Ex-‘Chrisley Knows Best’ Star Julie Chrisley Resentenced to Seven Years in Prison

Summary

Julie Chrisley, a former star of the reality show Chrisley Knows Best, has been resentenced to seven years in prison for her involvement in a bank fraud and tax evasion scheme. A federal judge upheld this sentence after a review found that her previous sentencing was miscalculated, although the overall duration of her incarceration remained unchanged. This decision comes after Julie and her husband, Todd Chrisley, were convicted in 2022 for defrauding banks out of more than $30 million.

In June 2024, an appeals court confirmed the Chrisleys’ convictions but noted an error in how Julie’s sentence was calculated, leading to her resentencing. During the resentencing hearing, Julie expressed remorse for her actions, acknowledging the impact on her family, particularly her children, who are now under the care of her daughter Savannah Chrisley. The prosecution maintained that Julie played a significant role in the fraudulent activities, arguing that her good behavior in prison should not mitigate the severity of her crimes. Despite the judge’s decision, Savannah Chrisley has publicly claimed that the sentencing was politically motivated, reflecting ongoing tensions surrounding the case. Both Julie and Todd Chrisley are currently serving their sentences, with Julie expected to be released in April 2028 and Todd in July 2032.
